From Athens to Amsterdam – Greece Is Everywhere – the struggle continues after today

INVITATION FOR A MEETING AFTER THE DEMONSTRATION:
17.00 - 19.00
Location: Building of DIDF, Ite Boeremastraat 1 (first floor)
Goal: Open meeting about further actions

Tomorrow we – people of various backgrounds, women, men, older, younger, people with and without a job, people at school or at college, Greeks, Ducth end people from other backgrounds – demonstrate under the slogan: Greece Is Everywhere!

We stand in solidarity with the Greek workers who strike and demonstrate, week after week, month after month, against the austerity measures that the Greek government, under pressure by Greek and international capital, by the EU and the IMF, is enforcing. We stand in solidarity with their resistance against a higher retirement age and lower pensions, against lower wages and benefits, against privatisation and the destruction of social security.

We loudly and clearly say NO to the austerity policies violently imposed upon the Greek people. We are conscious of the fact that Greece is a guinea pig for the crisis policies being imposed by one government after another, by the coming Dutch government as well, whatever the composition it will have. Their Greece – the Greece of budget cuts and of repression – is indeed everywhere, To that Greece we – side by side with the Greek strikers and demonstrators – say NO.

We say YES to the protests against the austerity policies in Greece, to the strikes, demonstrations and other actions. If the Greek workers, youth, pensioners, migrants and others lose their fight against budget cuts, it will encourage other governments to attack us with even more arrogance. If the Greek people in resistence win, it is a mighty encouragement for us, living under the shadows of similar impending attacks. For the Greece of the resistance, the Greece of protest, of the struggle for a good and free existence for us all – that Greece should be everywhere also. We say yes to that Greece. To express our solidarity and to bring the struggle against austerity home – that's why we are holding this action.

This demonstration should not be a one-off-action. We want to build for further actions against austerity, from Athens to Amsterdam. That is why we invite everyone to join us after the demonstyration, and go to the building of DIDF, Ite Boeremastraat 1 (eerste etage), 17.00-19.00 hour, for an open assembly about further actions. We ask everybody to get and keep in touch with us as well:
