Honduras has the second-highest rate of teenage pregnancy in Latin America. 50-80% of these are rape pregnancies. This is excruciating and women's groups in Honduras are calling for our support! Access to emergency contraception is banned, but the first-ever female President could legalize it with enough public support. Sign now to help these girls, and we will deliver our call along local groups meeting with the President:

Dear friends,
Honduras, one of the deadliest countries in the world, is hell for women. Girls of 12 years of age are forced to keep rape pregnancies, while hundreds are abused each year. But things are about to change.

The first-ever female president, Xiomara Castro, just took office and she could be one signature away from revoking a horrendous ban that humiliates women, especially rape victims. Honduras is the only country in Latin America that prohibits access to emergency contraceptives, a medicine used globally to aid girls, teenagers, and women bearing rape pregnancies.

Women's groups are now calling on us to help pressure President Xiomara Castro. She already promised she would lift this ban, but if we show her there is massive global support, she will be empowered to defy those trying to stop her. Sign now in solidarity with all the girls and women of Honduras -- and we will deliver directly to the President.
Violence against women is one of the most pervasive human rights violations in the world. About 35% of women globally have experienced physical or sexual violence, both intimate partner violence, and non-partner violence. This is even worse in Honduras.

In 2017, more than 80% of pregnant women treated by Doctors Without Borders in Honduras said their pregnancy was a result of rape. But these violent pregnancies can stop – and President Castro is one signature away from doing it.

Before she completes her first month in office, let's make sure President Castro understands her biggest mandate will be to prioritize women's safety, security, and dignity. She can start by legalizing emergency contraception, and then take up many more issues that are crucial to ensuring women's rights. Sign now and share widely:
Back in 2012, our community campaigned to stop the law that aimed to ban emergency contraception in Honduras and we won! Then, a military coup brought back this shameful ban. It's time to support women's groups from across the country who are fighting day and night for a brighter future.
