8 juni demo Den Haag: Solidariteitsaktie met tweede karavaan Grassroots Projects - 02.06.2010 23:42 On 8th June a second humanitarian caravan will leave to relieve the people of the autonomous municipality of San Juan Copala. They will try to get passed the blockade that has been put up by paramilitaries that are responsible for the deaths of many local and international activists. Tuesday, 08.06.2010 At 17:00 Mexican Embassy Nassauplein 28 The Hague We will hold another solidarity action in front of the Mexican Embassy in the Hague. Like the last time, on the 18th May, we will be handing over our demands concerning the second caravan and the humanitarian situation in the Autonomous Municipality of San Juan Copala, Oaxaca, to the Mexican Ambassador. We hope that a lot of people will come to support the people in Oaxaca who have to deal with the murderous paramilitaries and the corrupt regime of governor Ulises Ruiz Ortiz of Oaxaca. The first caravan was attacked by paramilitaries on the 27th April and two people were killed and many more were wounded. On the 20th May another attack was made by the paramilitaries and again they killed two people. This time they killed a local community leader and his wife. The paramilitaries have besieged the autonomous municipality of San Juan Copala and have terrorized it's inhabitants for more than 3 years. They have killed, kidnapped and threatened people of the community and anyone who dares to try and help them. The local State governor nor the Mexican government have tried to lift the siege or persecute any of the people responsible for the attacks. The paramilitaries operate with total impunity.
