Auction of Art Center Slovenia: CALL FOR SUPPORT

Since the year 2000, a wide range of artistic, theoretical and
educational activities have been organized in Art Center; meetings,
lectures, workshops and summer schools for artists, researchers,
philosophers and creators, from Slovenia and abroad.  However, it's
existence has been under continual pressure from municipalities,
threatening eviction of it's volunteer staff, and a halt to activities.
After a successful eviction in 2006, the staff fought to reclaim the
building, and won one year later.  But now, because of financial damage
done by these long-term attacks, Art Center is under threat of auction.
To sign the petition to stop this, see below:

Auction of Art center: CALL FOR SUPPORT

Government wants to sell Art center, the first residential artistic
center in Slovenia, on an auction set for 18th June 2009 again!

Join our action and sign the letter of support on the following address:

We ask you to spread the word and forward this call to everyone you know!

This is the second time Art center is threatened – first auction in
February 2009 was cancelled. At that time representatives of competent
ministries and offices - Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Education and
Government Office for Local Self-government and Regional Policy – stated
their support for the Art center project and discussed the possibilities
of solving Art center’s debt.
Nevertheless, no further actions were taken and Art center is facing
termination of all activities and overall ruin again.

Join the campaign and help us put pressure on governmental offices -
Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Education and Sport, Ministry of Higher
Education, Science and Technology, Government Office for Local
Self-government and Regional Policy and  Prime Minister – to cancel the
auction and finally enable undisturbed functioning of Art center.

Thank you for your support.
