Russian, Dutch oil giants brandjacked in Amsterdam

	Insane PR Circus Rocks Holland—But It's Not that Polar Bear Thing Hoax involves Dutch, Moby, Pamela Anderson and New Zealand Zoo What seemed to be a cruel and bizarre PR campaign took over Amsterdam yesterday as a barge with an apparently drugged polar bear, a Russian child superstar, and a colorful marching band wound through Amsterdam's canals to the city zoo. There, visitors and staff watched Gazprom and Shell reps officiously give the bear to Amsterdam—before being forcibly removed by zoo security and city police. A flurry of public speculation rippled through Dutch TV and online media: What could it mean? Who could have done this? Has Shell gone mad? Shortly thereafter, a companion website appeared at Polar-Partners.com, just in time for Twitter to burst into flames with revelations that "Gazprom" was using Moby's most famous song in the PR event's publicity video. Pamela Anderson, Dawn Olivieri, Adam McKay, Occupy Wall Street, and various other celebs joined in the fracas, cumulatively reaching millions of fans. Making things weirder, New Zealand's Auckland Zoo felt compelled to assert that it would not be receiving a bear through Gazprom's Adopt-a-Bear program. And when grainy bear cruelty photos popped up, the whole thing began to gain its own weird momentum. "Our polar bear circus was absolutely insane, but not half as insane as Gazprom and Shell's Arctic deal," said James Turner of Greenpeace International. "They want to exploit melting sea ice to drill for more oil. Shell screwed up badly in Alaska last year, so they're taking advantage of Russia's weaker regulations to take huge risks over there instead." "It's a national embarrassment that the most famous Dutch company is teaming up with one of the world's most notoriously corrupt state-owned corporations," said Dutch activist and Yes Lab volunteer Richelle Dumond. "Shell used to have standards, didn't they?" "Gazprom made it very easy for us," said Andy Bichlbaum of the Yes Men. "Their actual PR is extremely inspiring." "If you want a good laugh, just take a look at what Gazprom writes about reindeer, birds and salmon for their 'Year of Ecology' page," said Mike Bonanno of the Yes Men. "Not to mention launching a USB key with animal jpegs into outer space," said Sean Devlin of the Yes Lab. "Now that's inspiring." "Gazprom and Shell's real PR stunt is persuading the world that they're not responsible for the collapse of our ecosystems, and that they can be trusted to drill safely in the Arctic," said Turner. "But now over 3.5 million people are ready to bust the hoax." Wat moet er gebeuren wilt u het roer omgooien? Een verhelderende verkenning achter de schermen van de vis- en vleesindustrie alsook in uw hoofd.

Met onder anderen schrijfster Charlotte Mutsaers, hoogleraar psychologie en activiste Roos Vonk, varkenshouder en LTO-voorzitter Annechien ten Have, hoogleraar duurzame ontwikkeling Louise Fresco en Dirk Duijzer, directeur Food en Agri van de Rabobank.

In Vis noch vlees gaan de programmamakers de uitdaging aan om de eigen VPRO-kantine vlees- en visvrij te maken, ze confronteren fervente vleeseters met ongemakkelijke waarheden over de industrie, geven een reclamebureau de opdracht een campagne te bedenken die ons van het vlees- en vis eten afhelpt, en kijken met de blik van een natuurfilmer die een exotische diersoort ontdekt naar de dieren die dagelijks op ons bord belanden. Een vrolijke tirade die tot nadenken en actie stemt.'

As a child, Sahar Gul was sold by her brother for $US 5,000 into a home of horrific abuse. When she was finally rescued, torture left her so weak that she came out of her basement prison in a wheelbarrow. Last year her tormentors received 10-year sentences, but a lower court judge just set them free.

Afghan women's rights groups, aghast at the rolling back of their rights have been actively supporting Sahar Gul's case and working to ensure that relatives aren't banned from testifying against victim's aggressors. If we join these brave women now, we can show the Afghan politicians that the entire world stands behind Afghan women.

In school now, Sahar Gul is courageously rebuilding her life -- her dream is to someday lead a women's rights organization. Thema van de toespraken is "Antiracisme en samenwerking."

Herdenking en kranslegging

Elk jaar herdenkt Stichting Vrienden van Kerwin op 20 augustus zijn dood in 1983. De herdenking is een aanklacht tegen racisme, discriminatie en zinloos geweld.

Op 20 augustus vindt op de Dam in Amsterdam de 29ste herdenking plaats. Verschillende sprekers stellen het thema Antiracisme en samenwerking aan de orde.

Belangstellenden kunnen een krans leggen of een kaars branden, en op eigen, originele manier hun medeleven, solidariteit en gevoelens van antiracisme tonen.

Vier Kerwin Awards

Stichting Vrienden van Kerwin heeft in samenwerking met beeldhouwer Nelson Carrilho vier Kerwin Awards in het leven geroepen omdat het dit jaar 30 jaar geleden is dat Kerwin door een leeftijdgenoot werd neergestoken. Met de Kerwin Awards wordt aandacht gevraagd voor de realiteit dat racisme, discriminatie, pesten en intolerenatie het leven van kinderen en jongeren ernstig beschadigt, overal ter wereld, ook in Nederland en op de voormalige Antillen.

De Kerwin Awards worden elk jaar uitgereikt aan personen of organisaties die zich onderscheidend hebben ingezet om het leven van kinderen te verbeteren, die slachtoffer zijn van discriminatie, racisme, zinloos geweld, pesten en intolerantie.

Stichting Vrienden van Kerwin wil met de awards personen en organisaties ondersteunen in hun streven naar een menswaardig bestaan voor kinderen en jongeren, ongeacht herkomst, huidskleur, ras of seksuele geaardheid.

Leidraad hierbij zijn De Rechten van het Kind zoals die in 1989 zijn vastgesteld door de Verenigde Naties.

Dit jaar worden vier extra awards voor bijzondere verdiensten uitgereikt aan personen die zich op een bijzondere wijze hebben ingezet voor het blijvend herdenken van de dood van Kerwin en het plaatsen van Mama Baranka in het vondelpark.

De Kerwin Awards worden dit jaar toegekend door het bestuur van de Stichting Vrienden van Kerwin aan een lokaal initiatief, een landelijk initiatief, aan een initiatief op de voormalige Antillen en aan een initiatief ergens in de wereld. We kiezen bewust voor het honoreren van kleine initiatieven in wijken en buurten om deze onder de aandacht te brengen, naast landelijke, mondiale en één op de voormalige Antillen. Dit jaar te beginnen met Curaçao. Het is de bedoeling dat het initiatief hiertoe overgenomen wordt door een lokale organisatie aldaar.

De Kerwin Awards bestaan uit een bronzen beeldje van 'Mama Baranka': een kleine versie van het Kerwin Monument, én een symbolisch geldbedrag.

 

Kerwin, een vijftienjarige zwarte scholier, afkomstig uit Curaçao, is op 20 augustus 1983 in Amsterdam door een blanke jongen neergestoken vanwege zijn huidskleur. Enkele uren daarna stierf hij aan zijn verwondingen. In 1983 heerste het idee dat Nederlanders zeer tolerant waren. Veel mensen dachten dat racisme hier niet bestond. Deze gebeurtenis is de geschiedenis ingegaan als de eerste racistische moord in Nederland na de Tweede Wereldoorlog.

Stichting Vrienden van Kerwin

Sinds 1984 organiseert een wisselende groep mensen een jaarlijkse herdenking. Sinds enkele jaren hebben zij zich verenigd in de Stichting Vrienden van Kerwin.

Nelson Carrilho maakte in 1984 het Kerwin Monument 'Mama Baranka' op verzoek van de F.A.A, de  Antilliaanse gemeenschap in Amsterdam. Toen hij deze opdracht kreeg, werd verwacht dat hij een evenbeeld ging maken van Kerwin. Hij koos voor Moeder Rots, 'Mama Baranka', een tijdloos beeld. Een symbool van kracht en onverzettelijkheid. Een sterke vrouw wordt op de Antillen 'Mama Baranka' genoemd (baranka is Papiaments voor rots).

Namens het bestuur van de Stichting Vrienden van Kerwin nodig ik u van harte uit om naar deze herdenking te komen.

Rainbow Gathering 2013 Greece.Is Tantra Political?(part 1) Video interview and text

One of the text what i shared on many of our workshops at Rainbow Gathering. What do You think about it ? I hope would provoke for discussion and confront some stereotyping thinking...

In the movie what I'm making, I'm asking people: „Is Rainbow political ?", " Is tantra political ?". Of course it is. We would like all to change the world for a better place, we would like to save the planet, we all would love to give example to the world, that whole 2000 people can eat vegan food for whole month, that there peace, equality,freedom  and love is possible. Many of us would bring that beautiful energy back home, many would spread that love to their friends, families, surroundings etc. That's great ! That's wonderful ! Fantastic. It will bring the change. But is it enough ?

Copying American life style by Chinese and Indian people is going so fast. Even if we, each of us, after Rainbow Gathering, would menage to commit 2 people for vegan diet, we still would not balance that change. This is small example of many. Next could be: If all Chinese and Indian people would get a car we would be already fucked. Its going fast in that direction.

If You would live in early 30ties and You would see the Nazis empire coming, with this knowledge what it brought would You not like to stop it in all possible way, on all levels what You could?

The worse that Nazi time's is happening now in front of us. Millions of people are dying as consequence of climate change and not enough is done to stop it. We got freaky whether records in all parts of the world.

In Amsterdam we sadly joking, that summer that's only this few sunny days and Amsterdam summer fashion collection that's plastic rain jacket, with par of wellington boots. Still is very rare that You would hear about it in propaganda machine – TV ( idiot box ). One of the best thing what we can do o reduce climate change is to make our consumption smaller. The main massage in mainstream media is to " buy more ". Second important reason of TV propaganda is to spread ignorance. Every day big portion of news what we can't do nothing about it and we do nothing about it, make us immune for any need for action at all. So no wonder nothing is changing, - not enough.

The other problem is those who wish the change got divided : Peaceful, not peaceful. Wishing that in the times of TV propaganda circumstances, that meat or weapon industry would end just by soft, wishful thinking is a big dream. Wake up!

From the other hand radical actions what doesn't have social support ( because they're not peaceful enough ) also do not have enough big impact. It's time to unite, to acknowledge all aspect of our struggle, for better world, to save the planet. As tantra is teaching us to recognise, acknowledge, respect and use all aspect of our life, we also should use anger from love in our struggle. Let's free energy of Kali in our struggle to destroy all weapon and meat industry, let's support loudly those actions. We live in disaster bigger than WW2. Time to wake up ! Time to unite! Time to act in all possible way in all levels ! Do something now! The Earth is dying and needs Your help. NOW!
