Stop Shell, bescherm de Noordpool Greenpeace sluit tankstations Shell

Stop Shell, bescherm de Noordpool
Nieuwsartikel - 14 september, 2012

Love in Action: Occupy Spoken Word Piece with Drew Dellinger

This video is a taste of the upcoming feature documentary, Occupy Love, a community funded film. http://www.occupylove.org Love is the movement! "Our communities need us. We are all leaders. How could we ask for anything less than the future?"

A powerful video of the Occupy poem by acclaimed spoken word artist Drew Dellinger, ( http://www.planetizethemovement.org ) by award winning filmmaker Velcrow Ripper ( http://occupylove.org ), set to the beats of Jef Stott . Shot at Occupy Oakland during the epic General Strike of November 2nd, 2011.

Deep Green Resistance

from: http://deepgreenresistance.org

Deep Green Resistance is for those who can't wait anymore.

This is the question: Are you willing to accept the only strategy left to us? Are you willing to set aside your last, fierce dream of that brave uprising of millions strong? I know what I am asking. The human heart needs hope as it needs air. But the existence of those brave millions is the empty hope of the desperate, and they're not coming to our rescue.

If you care about life on this planet, and if you believe this culture won't voluntarily cease to destroy it, how does that belief affect your methods of resistance?

Most people don't know, because most people don't talk about it. Some are too afraid of being called terrorists by those who are murdering the planet. Some believe using the same tactics that have not worked for the last forty years – whether it be protests or petitions, collaboration with corporations, or window breaking will magically start being effective. Some think a technological solution will appear to make it all go away. Some have pinned their hopes on lifestyle changes, and its corollary, personal change, as if individual behaviors can dismantle systemic problems. And finally, some just have hope – the groundless, amorphous belief that allows us to keep "living" these lives while all around us and inside us the destruction grows exponentially. The hard truth is none of this has or will work, ever. Yet these represent the majority of our efforts to save the Earth.

Those who come after, who inherit whatever's left of the world once this culture has been stopped are going to judge us by the health of the landbase, by what we leave behind.

They're not going to care how we lived our lives. They're not going to care how hard we tried. They're not going to care whether we were nice people.
They're not going to care whether we were nonviolent or violent.
They're not going to care whether we grieved the murder of the planet.
They're not going to care what sort of excuses we had to not act.
They're not going to care how simply we lived.

They're not going to care how pure we were in thought or action. They're not going to care if we became the change we wished to see.

They're not going to care whether we voted Democrat, Republican, Green, Libertarian, or not at all. They're not going to care if we wrote really big books about it. They're not going to care whether we had "compassion" for the CEOs and politicians running this deathly economy.

They're going to care whether they can breathe the air and drink the water.

#

Environmentalists fight as hard as we can to protect the places we love, using the tools of the system the best that we can. Yet we do not do the most important thing of all: we do not question the existence of this death culture. We do not question the existence of an economic and social system that is working the world to death, that is starving it to death, that is imprisoning it, that is torturing it. We never question the logic that leads inevitably to clearcuts, murdered oceans, loss of topsoil, dammed rivers, poisoned aquifers.

When most people ask, "How can we stop global warming?" they aren't really asking what they pretend they're asking. They are instead asking, "How can we stop global warming without stopping the burning of oil and gas, without stopping the industrial infrastructure, without stopping this omnicidal system?" The answer: you can't.

Ninety percent of the large fish in the oceans are already gone. Where is your threshold for resistance? Is it 91 percent? 92? 93? 94? Would you wait till they had killed off 95 percent? 96? 97? 98? 99? How about 100 percent? Would you fight back then?

If salmon could take on human manifestation, what would they do?

What would we do if Nazis had invaded, and they were vacuuming the oceans, scalping native forests, damming every river, changing the climate, and putting carcinogens into every mother's breast milk, and into the flesh of your children, your lover, your mother, into your own flesh? How much worse would the damage have to get? Would you resist? If there existed a resistance movement, would you join it?

A Strategy
The strategy of Deep Green Resistance starts by acknowledging the dire circumstances that industrial civilization has created for life on this planet. And that these circumstances should be met with solutions that match the scale of the problems.

This is a vast undertaking but it needs to be said: it can be done. Industrial civilization can be stopped.

Deep Green Resistance is a plan of action for anyone determined to fight for this planet—and win.

Tevens lijkt de rust in de buurt weer te zijn wedergekeerd. De commotie die eerst in de reguliere pers was ontstaan in verband met ''drugs/alcohol en harde muziek'' vertaald zich nu in het nieuws als volgt;

''Buurtbewoners zeggen weinig last van de krakers te hebben. ,,Ze draaien alleen een beetje harde muziek, tot 's avonds laat. Maar verder valt het mee." "In de jaren tachtig stond ik hier zelf op de barricaden", zegt een buurman, verwijzend naar de krakersrellen rond de Zeigelhofgarage. "Nu is er weer veel leegstand in het centrum. Het wordt steeds erger."''

Vanishing Currents.Caravan Stage Company

www.caravanstage.org ( "Best Theatre what i ever seen" - SOSCTV )

VANISHING CURRENTS will take you into the lives of ordinary people inhabiting your world who are subject to the horrors visited on them as a direct result of decisions made by individuals who have political and personal goals...goals that, very often, sound hollow when tested by the scales of human grief and suffering.

Vanishing Currents explores the memories and choices of 6 refugees, each mourning the loss of relationships, childhood, dreams and families; each leaving behind a personal hell in search of the opportunity, security and safety of the West. Randomly selected from a secret internment camp under subcontracted corporate management, the refugees are lowered into a ship`s container which will take them on an uncertain journey. The play presents a crucial, metaphorical moment where the passengers must decide whether to accept their fate or undertake the dangerous task of assuming control over their destiny, despite the odds against their success. Vanishing Currents is about terror, control and trust. It is a magical circus spectacle featuring original music, mask, aerial dance, fire and multi-media projection. Vanishing Currents examines the nature of fear, ultimately demonstrating that, in the words of Frederik Douglas, "The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress".

Can we all silently ride this morality merry-go-round, this ethical carnival of hell…a ride that has taken us all on a four thousand year journey. Perhaps there is another way to face these horrors, to respond to the violence…perhaps this new work, will offer some fresh perspectives…and we might be able to alter the course of the vanishing.

Vanishing Currents examines the dreams and realities of Western immigration, exploring the intrigue and opportunity that attracts so many dreamers, each abandoning their ancestral homelands and loved ones, hazarding deprivation and starvation, risking death and incarceration, to seek the gold of the promised land. The Caravan Stage Tall Ship Theatre will be transformed into a container ship carrying a clandestine cargo of both materials and humans. The audience will experience an imagined journey with this surreal ship, departing from the shores of promise and sailing into the oceans of uncertainty, the waters of suspense and the waves of global intrigue.

“What a memorable evening. I thank you for the moment in life. What lingers after the performance is dramatic and disturbingly thought provoking. The impact of the happenings that you spread on the table continues to ferment and grow...and is persistent, and relentless."

Teresa Tarkanowsky, Artistic Director, Treatro Ole Flamenco Ole, New Orleans

"The Performance was powerful beyond words, far beyond. I felt very privileged to be there and be exposed to this power, which gave me so much insight into the lives of others on this planet I can so easily dismiss because I do not experience them in actuality. And most of all, the theme and message is so vitally important and was presented in as compelling a way as I could imagine."

Lucianne Carmichael, Director, Studio In The Woods, New Orleans

"The acrobats move breathtakingly gracious: they dance the sky, circle around the mast and rustle along the lines of the ship."

Leeuwarden Courant, August, 2006

"A visually stunning tribute to the injustice experienced by many migrants seeking a'land of promise'. "

Amsterdam Weekly, July, 2006

"Exceptional... impressive performance on a Theater ship."

Noordhollands Dagblad, August, 2006

"Vanishing Currentsis a haunting, mystical submersion in theatre, and a refreshing reminder that perhaps there is something new under the sun. It launches us into amusically diverse & stunning visual exploration of xenophobia."

R. Poindexter, Director, The NewOrleans-Cuba Mariel Amistad Society, 2005

"Four year old, Vonita; 12-year-oldTravon; 59-year-old Sandra and 61 yearold Joshua experienced the essence of performance last night. VANISHING CURRENTS will be forever remembered. Thank you for a wonderful, glorious, tantalizing evening. Bravo!"

Sandra Berry, Director, The Neighbourhood Gallery, New Orleans

"VANISHING CURRENTSis a wonderfully imaginative, poetic, fanciful work, while making a serious comment on the world today. I know of no othertheatre company that does the extraordinary work that you do."

Howard Zinn, Author of " A People's History of the United States of America"

"VANISHING CURRENTS surprised on many levels, for the show featured acrobatics way up in the rigging and circus stunts that were breathtaking. The music, the acrobatics and visuals were stunning. The message was bold and heartfelt. The Caravan Stage Company is a highly talented, original and dedicated troupe. Here's hoping it returns toNew Orleans."

Dalt Wonk, Theater Critic, The New Orleans Gambit, 2005

"I found VANISHING CURRENTS very gripping and captivating. It has left a very strong impact on me especially with regard to how our rights are being eroded and what this will mean to our individual freedoms...I could be deported just like one of the refugeesin your show."

Magda Dielen, Antwerp, 2005

"VANISHING CURRENTS, the play: in one word, marvellous!"

Rotterdams Algemeen Dagblad, 2005
