Urgent: they’re blocking arms to Israel

URGENT: in just a matter of hours, a shipment of 14 tons of military equipment is meant to set sail for Israel. But we can help stop it! Dock workers in Marseille are refusing to load the ship - but they could face severe backlash for doing what's right. We need to show them - and the French authorities - that the world stands with them. Sign now, and stop this ship of death: Right now, a shipment of military equipment is meant to be on its way to Israel. But French dock workers are refusing to load the ship in solidarity with Palestine. The union has been crystal clear: "we will not be part of the genocide orchestrated by the Israeli government." These workers could face severe backlash for doing what's right: they could face dismissal, or even arrest. But they are also inspiring the world. Already, Italian dockers have joined them - pledging to block the ship from its scheduled stop at Genoa, on its way to Israel. But every second counts - the ship is meant to leave the port TONIGHT. So this is urgent. We need to show these brave workers that, while they stand with Palestine, the world stands with them. Every signature will strengthen their resolve - and show French authorities that they must enact a full and immediate embargo of all military equipment to Israel. Over the past two years, people across the world speaking out and protesting in support of Palestine have been under huge pressure. A Swedish dockworker was fired and classed a risk to 'national security' for taking part in a blockade of Israeli military cargo. Greek authorities issued arrest warrants against a trade union official involved in a protest against transporting arms to Israel. But these brave dockworkers are standing in a long and proud tradition of worker- and union-led fighting for global justice. During South African Apartheid, the Maritime Unions against Apartheid were central to weakening the racist regime. STAND WITH THE DOCKERS - ADD YOUR NAME For the last 19 months, the Avaaz community has stood resolutely with the people of Palestine and with the Israeli hostages. Now, as governments continue to ignore their own obligations under international law, individuals are being forced to step up instead.
